Donate Your Birthday to Project 351

Happy Birthday! We are so grateful that you want to celebrate your special day by fundraising for Project 351. Ask your friends and loved ones for donations instead of gifts, and support the service leadership journey of young people across Massachusetts.

Setting up your virtual fundraiser is easy — just follow these steps:

1. Click the button above or follow this link.

2. Click Donate My B-Day to create your personal page (picture below)

3. Click “Edit my page” (picture below)

4. Set a fundraising goal. We recommend $351, in honor of our name, but you are welcome to choose any amount.

5. Write your story. Explain how you are connected to Project 351, why you care about the mission, and why your friends and family should care too!

** Don’t forget to save.

Now it is time to share with your friends and loved ones. You can share directly to your social media, copy the link to your personal fundraising page, or send automated invites via email and text.

6. Find your options to share your page by clicking “Share my page” (picture below; top right)

7. Alternatively, you can share quickly by using the sharing buttons (picture below; bottom left)

You are ready to start your birthday fundraiser!

FAQ

Do you have any tips?

We have six tips to help you have a successful birthday fundraiser:

  1. Ask people directly. Most people won’t donate unless you ask—so go ahead and pick up the phone, write an email, or send a text.

  2. Share your passion for Project 351. Your excitement is contagious and will inspire action from your loved ones.

  3. Compare the amount to something else: “If you were planning to say happy birthday with a gift, I invite you to donate the money to Project 351 instead and help me support young people making change” or “Donating $10 (the cost of two coffees) helps empower young leaders across Massachusetts.”

  4. Ask more than one time (unless they say no). People sometimes mean to donate but forget to do so. Don’t be afraid to remind them about your fundraiser as your birthday approaches.

  5. Make it easy. The easier it is to donate, the more likely it is that people will do so.

  6. Just get started! We can get caught up in our thoughts so far, but you will feel a lot more comfortable fundraising once you get started. Remember that some people will say no and that is okay.

Feel free to reach out to us if you want more advice or help planning your fundraiser.

Can I lead a fundraiser if it is not my birthday?

Yes, of course! People have fundraised to celebrate a graduation, to celebrate a wedding, or for no reason other than to support Project 351. The sky is the limit! If you want to use a fundraising page that is not called “Birthday Fundraiser,” please reach out to us and we will be happy to help you set it up.
