THE SERVICE HERO TEAM MODEL

Our Service Hero Team structure is a unique leadership development model that assigns a small group of eighth-grade Ambassadors to a team named after a Project 351 Service Hero—an inspirational agent of change. Service Heroes reflect an aspirational standard of leadership and offer wisdom and context for achieving sustainable change. Throughout the year, the lives and leadership lessons of Service Heroes are incorporated into learning models. This includes direct engagement with Service Heroes including Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, restauranteur and anti-hunger activist Joanne Chang, and the family of ALS advocate Pete Frates.

Each team of geographically diverse Ambassadors is led by a Project 351 Alumni, selected by competitive application to serve as team leader and mentor. The team structure provides a more customized forum for enrichment on our values, model of service, and ethos for community building. And, allows for effective mobilization to address the causes and consequences of poverty at scale.

Project 351 is a representation of what’s possible if we just believe in the power of unity, commit to the common good, help every young person achieve their potential as a force for positive change.
